My Computer Therapy shows you how to revive vintage Apple gear—step by step.

What You’ll Need

  • An older Intel Mac
  • A 16GB (or larger) USB drive
  • Another Mac to download the installer

How We Did It

  1. Check Compatibility: Confirm your exact model (e.g., MacBookAir5,2).
  2. Download OpenCore Legacy Patcher: Get the latest release from GitHub.
  3. Create a macOS Installer: Use OpenCore to put macOS Sonoma on a USB stick.
  4. Patch the USB Drive: Enable boot support for your older Mac.
  5. Boot and Install: Hold Option, select the patched installer, and install.
  6. Post-Install Fixes: Use OpenCore again for Wi‑Fi drivers and other tweaks.
